Mindfulness Meditation Retreat In English

This retreat will offer an opportunity to deepen the practice of mindfulness meditation. Except for certain periods such as during interviews or mindful exchange, the entire retreat will be in silence.

The retreat consists of

  • periods of mindfulness meditation in sitting and walking throughout the day.
  • A session of mindful body work once a day, yoga and/or Qigong.
  • A talk each day on mindfulness and practice
  • Small group interviews with Linda

The retreat incorporates mindfulness practices from the context of MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) as well as compassion meditation and exercises from the Embodied Mindfulness Awareness Program (EMA) developed by Linda Lehrhaupt

Schedule

On the first day there will be an opportunity to meet each other. Linda will also offer an introduction to the retreat process.

The silence begins after dinner on the first day and continues until Friday morning. There may also be periods of mindful exchange and journaling about a theme.

For Whom is the Retreat For?

  1. The retreat is intended only for participants with mindfulness meditation experience, or practitioners of contemplative traditions. It is not suitable for practitioners without meditation experience.
  2. The retreat will provide mindfulness teachers or teachers of programs such as MBSR, MBCT, MBCL, etc. with an opportunity to expand their knowledge and practice.
  3. The retreat is also Mindfulness-Based Program teachers who seek further education to develop their own teaching skills.

The retreat satisfies the requirement of various MBSR-MBCT teaching associations, including the MBSR-MBCT-Verband Deutschland, to attend a silent retreat in order to maintain certification and fulfill further education requirements.

Retreat Fee:

Euro 450, 00 Costs for accommodation and meals are not included in the Retreat Fee.

Linda Lehrhaupt, PhD, is the founder and executive director of the Institute for Mindfulness-Based Approaches/Institut für Achtsamkeit. She is acknowledged as a pioneer in introducing MBSR and mindfulness education in several European countries and is known for her depth of knowledge and expertise in the integration of mindfulness in education, health care and its social applications.

She began teaching MBSR in Germany in 1994 and has taught within the Institute’s MBSR teacher-training program since 2002. She began her MBSR teacher training at the Center for Mindfulness, University of Massachusetts Medical School, with Prof. Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues in 1993 and completed its MBSR teacher certification program.

She has practiced Zen meditation since 1979 and is a Zen teacher (Roshi) in the White Plum Lineage founded by Taisan Maezumi Roshi. She has also completed a training and is certified to work as an interfaith spiritual director (companion).

Dr. Lehrhaupt earned a PhD in Performance Studies from New York University in 1990 with a specialty in ritual and traditions. She earned an M.A. in Drama (NYU) and a B.A. (Hofstra) in English and Secondary Education. In her early teaching career, she worked as a secondary school teacher before moving into adult education and professional training in mindfulness-based programs, where she has taught for more than 40 years. During these years, Dr. Lehrhaupt had led many hundreds of workshops and retreats.

She has written several books, including co-authoring a highly regarded introduction to MBSR that has been translated into 9 languages.

Born and raised in New York City, she has been living in Germany and France since 1983.

Accommodation and Meals

The fees for accommodation and meals are not included in the retreat fee.

At the present time, (May 2023) prices for room and board as listed on Rosenwaldhof’s web site can vary between Euro 74-104 depending on choice of room. Prices may change as time goes by.

Venue

Seminar house Rosenwaldhof

The Rosenwaldhof is a seminar house and retreat center in the Berlin region and is quietly located on the edge of the forest near numerous lakes, not far from the banks of the Havel River. By train from Berlin, the Rosenwaldhof can be reached in about an hour. Brandenburg and Potsdam are both about 25 km away.
